Which Is Better for You – Shiatsu Or Thai Massage?
Shiatsu is the better massage technique for you if you have blocked meridians or headaches and enjoy a deep tissue massage.
I always suggest Shiatsu for clients who have difficulties with their digestive systems and want a holistic way to deal with their stress and anxiety. Most healthy people can receive Shiatsu treatments from trained professionals, but specific individuals need to take extra care.
For instance, a pregnant woman may find it challenging to rest on her back, but a thoughtful practitioner can make accommodations by having the client lie on their side or using bolsters.
Cancer patients should also proceed cautiously because individuals with a limited range of motion who recently underwent surgery have weak immune systems. Practitioners should avoid touching delicate areas, such as those close to growth, and only use light pressure where necessary.
If you want to increase your flexibility and range of motion, Thai massage might be preferable. Being more flexible in your muscles will improve your efficiency, making it perfect for athletes. I recommend Thai massage to clients of mine who are stiff from a desk job or are taking longer to recover from muscle surgery.
Thai massage has been known to make clients’ hearts beat faster, so it is not advised for those with cardiac conditions. It is also not advised for those who have connective tissue disorders and autoimmune diseases.
